About MileHorizon

MileHorizon is a travel planning field guide — road trips first, and increasingly the rest of the trip: flying alone for the first time, traveling on a smaller budget, the practical parts of getting somewhere and back without the stress. It exists because most travel content online is either a thin listicle or a sponsored recommendation dressed up as advice, and neither helps much when you’re actually trying to plan a real trip.

Who’s behind it

MileHorizon is written and maintained by a small editorial team and edited by Thomas Kadi. Guides are published under the MileHorizon Editorial Team byline because the work behind each one — research, drafting, fact-checking — is a process rather than a personality. One person planning a trip shouldn’t have to care who typed the guide; they should be able to trust that it was checked before it went up.

What we try to do differently

The approach is simple: start from real sources, check the facts before publishing, and write for someone who actually intends to take the trip rather than someone idly scrolling. We don’t invent statistics, and we don’t recommend things we can’t stand behind. When we cite a number — a market figure, a road condition, a booking window — it comes from a named, checkable source. When a guide’s facts can go out of date, we go back and update it rather than leaving a stale page online.

The full version of how that works — how we research, fact-check, and keep guides current — is laid out on our editorial standards page.

The editor

Thomas Kadi is the founder and editor of MileHorizon. He plans and takes the kinds of trips the site covers, and oversees the research and fact-checking behind every guide before it’s published. For editorial questions, corrections, or press enquiries, reach the team at contact@milehorizon.com.
